Even so, modern hard drives are more than adequate for most purposes. If you're moving large amounts of data around (e.g. video editing) then you might see a benefit from faster, expensive disks. Otherwise, more RAM will be more cost-effective than faster, more expensive disks. Oh, and more reliable - those raptors run hot.
