I realize nobody has likely tried this yet (though I plan to do so this weekend unless cautioned), but if anyone decides to install Slimserver 6.5.2 (from http://debian.slimdevices.com/dists/testing/main/binary-amd64/) on the just-released-today Ubuntu Server 7.04 (AMD-64 build), could you post if it works properly, or whether you run into -- ahem -- interesting events? And if you run into problems with favorite 3rd-party plugins, that would be good to know as well.
I didn't try with Ubuntu Server, but rather the main Ubuntu AMD64 live-cd install method on a clean HD/fresh install. It worked perfectly. Literally the first thing I did was add the slimdevices repo to the sources.list(actually used the 'software sources' config applet) and then I issued 'sudo apt-get install slimserver'. By default, Feisty Fawn seems to have the universe and multiverse repositories enabled, which is a common stumbling block I think. Good luck. Ben
