Wow, I think I figured it out (at least to mount interactively)...just
issued the command:

sudo mount -o smbfs username=xxx,password=xxx /volume/share
/media/music

(I previously created the /media/music directory).

Slimserver accepted the mount point...so waiting to see if it will scan
my music files...more later...

Still need to figure out if this can be put into fstab in some way so
that it mounts on bootup.  All the fstab examples I've seen are used
for local storage (hda, hdb, etc.).
