I don't use it on a "regular basis". I use it a couple times per year to do backups. When it isn't doing a back-up, it is "stored" at a remote location. My headless server is located in my home, connected through a router to the rest of my network. My normal interaction with the server is either via the web or SB3/SBR to connect to Squeezecenter. I use ssh once or twice per year for things like OS updates, SC updates, etc. ssh is a little cumbersome, but it gets the job done. I use it so infrequently that I have to keep written notes handy so I don't have to relearn ssh every 6 months.
