If the led is on at the LAN port or the motherboard it does look that the thing should work.
The turning off bit should happen automatically as as far as I know the ATX power supply is designed for wake on lAN. This means there is power on at the LAN connection even when the machine is turned off. This means that when you send the magic packet (which is what the Slimserver does) it will work and the ATX supply will then turn on the main power supplies to the mobo. You have to turn the settings on in the bios and then make sure that the software in linux is cooperating. the instructions in linux are easily done with ethtool as the other guy is trying to help you with. The magic packet from the SB appears when you press the power button on the remote. The packet is sent down the lan to the last computer acting as server. Also you shouldn't turn off the computer at the mains as this will stop the function. err can't think of anything else you might need an expert. -- mudlark SB3>CyrusDACX>PreXvs>ESP-P09B>NAP140+260A>Rhapsody, Avondale and Naim cable, Kubuntu Hardy Heron server, linkstation for storage.
