Did you receive the timeout message before the sound went away? What version and rev of SqueezeCenter is this happening with?
What was the stream type when this happened? Is it alway the same type? What is the time length of the track you're playing when this happens? Does the progress bar continue to increase every 5 seconds or does it reset to 0:00 each cycle? Hopefully that's enough information to try and reproduce.
