I am no longer getting the super long delay, now its only about a second. I think it was because I installed the asio4all package, even thought my Asus HDAV had asio support. I've uninstalled asio4all and its all good now.
I've noticed if I seek to the end of a track -10 second from the end it will not play to the next track, but if i seek further from the end of the track from that then the gapless play to the next track works, which you have already noted.
