Thanks, that brought up the volume to my reference CD player level. But
how do you make it stick? Each time I re-boot it goes back to -20db
which seems to be the default level. Both the Wandboard and Raspberry Pi
are doing the same now so I am confused as to why the RPi was -0db (or
so I thought) when I listened to the TE7022 USB DAC first time.

Also this lower, -20db, setting does not happen on my PCM2707 DAC - it
seems totally unaffected by the alsamixer level. Any reason why that is
the case?

Sorry with all the questions, I am learning here and also somewhat
confused!
