I don't own one, but I did get a chance to listen to the SUBBU DAC. (It
must have been an earlier revision, wouldn't have been the latest GB.) A
lot of DAC, for not a lot of money! I have time for the ES9023. It's a
cheap part, (relatively speaking, 5 bucks compared to say the 55 bucks
of its big brother the ES9018), which doesn't leave you with too many
choices to make. It's not fussy and it doesn't need endless "tinkering"
and a masters in electronic engineering to end up with something that
sounds great.
