If you recall, I'm running a modded squeezelite program and the Rpi to
turn off the power to an external amplifier automatically with the state
of the player. I've noticed occasionally where the amplifier is
powered up but nothing is playing. (and the power button in LMS is
showing off) So I did a little investigating today.

The situation is
Player A is synchronized to Player B

Then turn off both players. (i.e. overnight)

Then if I start Player A with Player B off........player B still fires
the output thread to wakeup and open the Alsa device....but fails. When
player A starts, here is the log from player B

  [10:08:03.982306] sendSTAT:163 STAT: STMt

--------------------

Is this just caused by LMS? My hook into squeezelite to toggle the
power is based on the state of the output thread. Is there a better
spot to do this?
