Back-to-topic: I think your claim that the HDMI out is not bit-perfect is controversial. Via Google, I found statements from Raspberry Pi Foundation member and developer "popcornmix" claiming the RPI's HDMI out is bit-perfect. I'm by no means an expert, but I agree with probedb's assessment. HDCD decoding and support is flaky in many use cases.
