You still need to put that converter into a digital in, sample it and taking account of offset differences, compare the actual bits. I've got several HDCD discs which aren't picked up as such by my AVR....from the digital out from a CD player. Same goes for the HDCD plugin in fb2k, discs ripped bit-perfect and not picked up as HDCD.
