Paul, you're of course spot on that a proper power supply is important.
However I'm using the 'official raspberry pi 2.5A power supplies' (sorry
forgot to mention that in my first post)
As for not supposed to write to SD card: yes, that is exactly why I like
the pcp concept (and tiny core linux for that matter).

Eh, why is it busy and would it still be safe to remove the SD card?
Long term though I would like to be able to power off the pcp's any time
and only boot them when needed.

Meanwhile I've reinstalled from scratch once more, but haven't enabled
Shairport sync.
