Install the package that contains the command "nmcli" (for Debian it is
network-manager) and use that. Dependencies such as dhcp client etc,
should be resolved by any competent package manager.
Synopsis for connection:
nmcli dev wifi connect 'MYSSID' password XXXXXXXX
You can also scan your network with:
nmcli dev wifi
