I had forgotten the -E option when launching JiveLite - that makes the environment variables available to JiveLite. So the cursor's gone altogether now, and I've removed the Quit option from the home menu, so now it's looking pretty slick. I'll do the script thing too, and then have another crack at the wifi. Given my lack of progress with TinyCore, I wonder if it's feasible to remove enough of the packages in the original Ubuntu image to make it fit into the 1GB flash storage. It's obviously possible, since the 'Squeezeplay OS' for the Joggler is apparently based on Ubuntu, but what I mean is, is it feasible for a noob like me?!
