I've been watching the discussion on network printing and thought i'd share my experience:
One way i have found to use "unsupported printers" is by using ghostscript. Ghostscript is a unix program that converts postscript or pdf documents into just about any printer code on the market. The idea is you use OS X's printcenter to generate postscript code of your document then you filter the postscript code through ghostscript to generate the code needed for your printer. I use this technique to print to a Postscript level 1 printer. (OS X only generates level 2 compatible postscript code) Jim Derry wrote "Balthisar's Guide ot Non-PostScript, network Printing for Macintosh OS X"available at : http://homepage.mac.com/balthisar/HPNetworkInkjet.sit. Be sure to review the discussion at http://discussions.info.apple.com for additional clues for other printers and updates. I have not been able to use this on OS X server running on a 7500. But it appears to be a problem with printcenter on that machine not ghostscriptl . ************************************************** * Dave Johnson [EMAIL PROTECTED] * QuoVadimus http://www.QuoVadimus.biz * 215.848.8918 Apple Solution Expert *** Where are we Going? **** ************************************************** -- Unsupported OS X is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Unsupported OS X list info <http://lowendmac.com/lists/unsupported.html> Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive <http://www.mail-archive.com/unsupportedosx%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
