The installation of the Midgard packages and the documentation
accompanying it has greatly improved in the last weeks. I guess its
just easier to edit configuration files than to use PHP for the first
time. Especially since the daily RPM'S are available for Mandrake
7.2 and Redhat the installation process on those systems is a
breeze.

I had the same problems once i got Midgard up and running.
Where do i start ? Only after Armand helped me along and
studying the FAQ (-> http://www.midgard-
project.org/manual/faq.using.htm) i was able publish my first two :-
) articles. As Joe was saying, the documentation for the
commands and the reference is very good and to the point,
including the examples. What is needed in my opinion is an
introduction for beginners to Midgard on how to build their first
pages. This includes the real basics on how to use styles, pages
and the topics. What do you need to do to see your first article
displayed. Only after fiddling with Midgard -> creating an active
subpage->creating new element "code-init"->editing active subpage
->i got it. It was difficult to grasp the mechanism of Midgard.

This is just my "newbie to Midgard" opinion. As much as i would
like to write an introduction for beginners, i don't feel up to the task
yet. I need to understand the system and PHP more thouroughly
before i would dare publishing anything worthy to read.
