Please, stay with 1.6.2. When setup is done ( and you are sure there is no additional stuff added by you ) and something is wrong , set apache log level to debug and send output. I use 1.6.2 since release day and noticed this relase as seagfaultless. I use it with Apache 1 and Apache 2.
