we also do not *need* syntax highlighting :)

Well, the problems you sketch is what I tried to say with my "how to
bring this to the options UI?". In general, I'd say either the full set
of attributes, or none (except color). Which boils down to "none" for
the initial version, I think.

But we can keep this in mind as future task for later improvement.
