My experiences with complex third-party software are mixed - HSQL worked out really good, the Mozilla components we ship for address book access are a good example for where I *long* wish we would have implemented our own version from the beginning ... So, technical feasibility is not always the complete story. However, I'd say we should at least keep in mind that the Workbench exists, and it needs to be included in evaluations before we (if we - remember that's still the collection-of-ideas phase) start to implement the very same functionality again.
