So, surprise us (or don't) by writing down and sharing your wishes and
ideas.
As you asked for it, here are my 2 cents.
I'd be very happy if Base was just as capable as Access 97 (released
more than one decade ago). At the moment one can use Base as a front
end for this & that but not for database application development.
Especially noteworthy (IMHO):
* A Tab control for forms (and dialogs).
* Linked tables from different DBs.
* SRB should be the standard report engine.
* Native support not only for MySql but also for PostgreSql, SQLite3 and
perhaps for Firebird.
* The current implementation of Base's forms just seems to put Writer
forms into a new (as of OO2) container format which is quirky and
limiting. Are there any plans to implement true, native DB forms instead
of abusing Writer's/Calc's old (OO1.x) functionality?
* A runtime engine for Base applications (see Impress users asking for a
standalone presenter) or at least a runtime *mode* (this was already
asked for as "hiding tables from users").
* More speed for record operations / navigation (also already mentioned
here).
Thanks for listening & kind regards
Oliver Bentler
