May I repeat a question - does anyone know how to backup the user dictionaries in OO 3?
Throughout Version 1 and 2 I used several different ones for different categories I like for my own purposes (like "names") and it is handy to move them on to the next version each time I upgrade or re-install on the computer. But in version 3 they are not in the obvious place. I tried to find the files in Program Files/OpenOffice3.0/Share/Wordbook....etc but they have vanished. Then I found a path: Program Files/OpenOffice3.0/Basis/Share/Wordbook which has a folder en_us in it which is very much like the path from version 2. I copied my user dictionary files from Version two there into Wordbook When I opened OO these files did appear in the list (I looked in Tools/Options/language settings/writing aids in Writer and I ticked them to use them) but they do not appear when I use spell checker. So clearly something is not right. For an experiment I removed them again and created new ones inside Writer in /options/language settings/etc These DO appear on spell check. But of course they are empty and I have to start building my dictionaries all over again which is a pain. Secondly I cannot find the place where the dictionary files are stored. So backing up is impossible I don't want to have to redo these dictionaries all over each time. Any help out there?
