If you are speaking bout the preinstalled ones: there is no need for it since you can simply reinstall them. And for downloaded ones: you should already backup up the downloaded oxt file. >> Throughout Version 1 and 2 I used several different ones for different >> categories I like for my own purposes (like "names") and it is handy >> to move them on to the next version each time I upgrade or re-install >> on the computer. But in version 3 they are not in the obvious place. That's because in 3.0 dictionaries are installed as extension. And extension are either inslatted in the shared layer or the user layer. For example a copy of the preinstalled ones can be found in Sun\StarOffice 9\share\extension\install The actually installations of those ones is in Sun\StarOffice 9\share\uno_packages\cache\uno_packages You need to browse through temporary sub-directories to find the folder where the dictionaries got unpacked. For example that path may look like this Sun\StarOffice 9\share\uno_packages\cache\uno_packages\1263.tmp_\dict-fr.oxt >> I tried to find the files in Program >> Files/OpenOffice3.0/Share/Wordbook....etc but they have vanished. That is outdated since those installation pathes for plain dictionary files and using a dictionary.lst is no longer supported due to problems on update. >> Then I found a path: >> >> Program Files/OpenOffice3.0/Basis/Share/Wordbook which has a folder >> en_us in it which is very much like the path from version 2. >> I copied my user dictionary files from Version two there into Wordbook Quickly forget about that one. It should not work. That it might still work is just to some code that was yet forgotten to be removed. That code is removed by now and thus with OOo 3.01 it should be guaranteed that these things won't work anymore. Thus the proper solution for a user is to make use of dictionary extension only.
