I just went to the mirror project and discovered that the
newest CD ISO is actually a DVD ISO at 1.7 gig in size.
I was wondering when the 2.x CD ISOs would be upgraded to
the 3.0 files. Now it is in a DVD format. I was wondering why?
There are many computers that still do not have a DVD drive
installed. I have four. I do have and external DVD player/burner
drive but that does not help those who do not have one.
Why did the "ISO people" decide to go the DVD route, instead of
the CD route of 2.0 files?
I currently make my own CDs with the install files unpacked and add
the documents and add ons to the point the CD is filled.
I was waiting for the 3.0 ISOs to see what they were like. I use to
give
out the 2.0 CDs (using the ISOs) before 3.0 came out.
So WHY the change to the DVD ISOs?

Tim,
One way around the new DVD ISO problem is to download the dvd iso and
then mount it in a virtual drive. There are several free virtual drive
programs. One that comes to mind (for Windows) is Slysoft's
VirtualDrive which is freeware. Then you can create your own CD iso's
from the files mounted in the virtual drive.
I have no trouble with DVDs on my laptop, but others may.
Also, there is some trouble with the DVD files and VISTA(?).
When I copied the files from the burned DVD ISO file, to my hard drive,
I had some trouble
with the system kept telling me that I had not the permission to use the
files. I had to do some
re-file associating work to all me to open the files into OOo3.0
I still - as with the other reply with this thread - do have trouble
with the 3.0 version DVD
having only 2.0 version documentation. There are 3.0 documents
available at this point, so
why use the 2.0 versions.
