Came this utterance formulated by Arnold Roth to my mailbox:

> I've been using the 2.4 version of OOo for some time and have saved
> write files as .doc format for communicating with others who only have
> Microsoft Office. Now I've updated to the 3.0 version and my first

During this process was the file previously saved as an ODT file? I ask
because i have seen files come up as myfile.odt.doc which seems to put
the save filters into a tizz. I found that as well as changing the
filetype i had to delete the pre-existing file suffix.
