It *is* straightforward and automatic. You just have to follow the instructions *from* the email address you subscribed to the mailing list. May I point out that mailing list software is (usually mailman, are there others as popular) quite robust. I have hardly ever seen so many posts in any mailing list complaining that they cannot get off the list. The only reason that comes my mind for the unduly high traffic of such emails here is the newbie factor of users here. I appears as if all these users are lacking even the basic reading and comprehension skills to follow the very simple instructions to the letter to get off the list. -- Please reply to this list only. I read this list on its corresponding newsgroup on gmane.org.
