Why "create a simple rule"? - as already pointed out, Thunderbird (and most other mail clients?) allows for automatic cancellation of MDNs, so that one never need see them. Or is the "simple rule" that any message with a "Disposition-Notification-To:" header gets automatically deleted? Either way, that "simple solution" does not work for those who would like to retain the MDN for its intended purpose: notification that a message has been received. As the relevant RFC (3798) takes pains to point out, that purpose simply does not apply to a mailing list - and, that said, if there is fault beyond Bruce's, it is that the mailing list manager does not strip that header, as recommended by the RFC. It's just sad that Bruce does not voluntarily extend that courtesy.

Then you need only add the offender's email to the rule.

? - You mean add to the kill file anyone who ever requests a return receipt? Is that what you do?
