I think you misunderstood your teacher. The OpenOffice.org suite has
components that are equivalent to and compatible with Microsoft's Word
and Excel applications. The OOo apps are named Writer and Calc,
respectively.
Once you have downloaded the OpenOffice.org suite, you must "unzip" and
install it on your computer before it can be used. If you are
unfamiliar with how to do these things, please reply to the list with
your questions and also tell us which operating system you are using.
