You have formatted cell E6 as TEXT.  It needs to be formatted as a
number if you want to perform arithmetic with it.

Hi all

Here is a follow up, plus I have uploaded a piece of the sheet here;
www.masse.us/test_sheet.ods

Lines 1 and three work .... line two does not!! And what I find even
stranger ... if I fill in a few more rows and copy the WORKING formula
down the appropriate column ... it doesn't work in a recurring
pattern!! see here www.masse.us/test_sheet2.ods

FYI the comma in $10,00 - in the quoted section below - from my
original post is a mistype, but is not in the original sheet.

TIA

HI all,

Just installed OO and am really intrigued. However, when
I opened my usual excel sheet in calc the formulas do not seem to
work correctly.... I have poked through the FAQ, and didn't come
up with an answer ... the formulas? They are there ... and the
format seems correct (; instead of ,) etc.

It might be a setting or something like that....
Col A has .55
Col B gets an entry like $10,00 (formatted for currency)
Col C has a formula =A1*B1 and returns $0.00

I seem to have many (all) formulas that are not working as they
should .... is that possible? WHere should I look to start
correcting this?

TIA

Mike

Works for me. I cannot recreate the problem.

Is Tools >> Cell Contents > AutoCalculate turned off (unchecked)?
It is checked

What happens if you press F9?

Nothing
