There has to be some error in the font
that OOo 2.0.3/.4 cannot deal with.
I have used many symbol fonts in OOo
so it has to be a problem with the font file itself.
My font repair program "free trial" is over
so I cannot us it to see if it can be fixed
I just installed it and used Word
I looked at the font in High-Logic's MainType
and say all of the symbols starting at character #61696
BUT
Fontographer 4.1 show the symbols starting at character #256
and "regular" letters in their proper places.
There has to be an error in the font
Do you need the symbols as a font
or could you change them into small
images and insert them into the text???

I am using Windows XP SP2, and OOo 2.0.4.
I downloaded and installed on my system (using Settings > Control Panel
> Fonts etc) a special font consisting of orienteering symbols. A bit

It is a .ttf font. I did a system restart after installing.
OOo recognizes the font as far as showing it on the list of fonts
available. However, when I attempt to use the font, it does not show the
symbols that it is supposed to, instead just showing letters, numbers,
etc.
I went into WordPad and tried the font and it works fine. It shows the
orienteering symbols like it is supposed to. I also tried it with NotePad
and it works fine there also.
I'm really pretty ignorant about the inner workings of fonts, having had
no need up to now to learn much about them. Does anyone have any
suggestions as to why this font isn't working? Thanks for your help.
