Apparently Trados can now work with OpenOffice formats.

Contact details can be gleaned from http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=49073

The forum also has a "sticky" thread for OpenOffice-related links:

Perhaps a link to a page in the Wiki where such translators could be listed?

I agree with you.
One of the reasons for Word are the Translation memories that are either
owned by MS (Trados) or use a type of macrto technique adjusted to Word.
I suggest they look for translators who use OOo!
Maybe they can setup a database for Translators who use OOo

This is a firm which uses OpenOffice. They have found that translators
generally want documents converted to M$ formats before they can work on
them.

The firm wants to keep its documents in OpenOffice formats throughout -
not convert them to M$ for the translators' convenience and convert them
back after translation. That sounds reasonable to me. Why not keep
everything within the family?

I do not really get your question!

A user is looking for translator/s able and willing to translate
documents in OpenOffice formats -i.e. translator/s who would not
require
the documents to be in M$ formats.

Does anyone know of such (a) translator/s?
