As a new user, the OO feedback system is too complex and too programming
oriented to track. Also, as a simple user, I have no time for heavy
involvement in discussion groups. Hence, I am using the simplest most
direct means I know to register two items of concern.
Writer--so far, it does all that I need except one thing: In Word, I could
program from the special character screen free key combinations such as
ALT+[key] to handle regularly used special keys, such as portions of the
Greek alphabet used in text references to equations. I do not find this
facility in Help or on the special character screen. (Incidentally, the
equation maker is superior, very like the old WP DOS version.)
Calc--I hate wizards because they use an abnormal language relative to
standard graphing notations and do not allow full control by virtually
instantaneous means to all aspects of the graph appearance. Why not
consider--as an addition perhaps--going back to the system used by Quattro
Pro 7 and earlier in simply allowing entries to specify ranges for X and
multiple Ys, with access to all graph appearance facets (color, point and
line sizes, all label fonts, etc.) with a separate storage area that allows
one also to place a graph on the data page. I shall continue to use QP7
under Virtual PC for spread sheets that result in graphs (transported to
Paint Shop Pro for final annotations) until all of the wizards die of old
age.
I omiy all of the good things that make this a suite worth money--even
though it is free.

New User
