You are clearly expecting OpenOffice to create a
desktop shortcut for you, but not all
applications do this - and OpenOffice does
not. If you had a desktop shortcut before, you
must have created this yourself, and you are
correct: your existing shortcut will not work
with your new version. (You should delete
it.) Instead, you start OpenOffice from the
program menus - just like any other
application. Are you using Windows? (You kept
that bit a secret!) Go to Start | All Programs >
and navigate to OpenOffice there.
You can always create your own desktop shortcut
if you wish, of course - in the usual
way. Again, if you are using Windows, find the
appropriate entry in the program menus, and then
right-click it and use Send To > | Desktop
(create shortcut) - or whatever these become in the German version.
