Subject: Re: [users] I need to save in word 2003 doc

The prof requires it because there is and editing function that she has that only works with 2003.doc. Every format I have tried to submit has not worked with her editing software.

I am taking an online class and the teacher has demanded that all papers be submitted in 2003.doc. I have 2003.xml, but this does not upload to her computer. The word versions ending in doc work, but it has to be in 2003. Is there a way to download 2003 doc to my computer?

Why is it that Word 2003 "doc" is so important? I don't know if the
.DOC format in Word 2003 is different from earlier recent versions of
Word. If the class absolutely requires Word 2003, I guess you'll have
to buy it (if you still can), but I cannot understand why that
instructor is so restrictive. If anyone were to buy a new computer
these days, they certainly wouldn't have it and I just checked a major
office supply store and they don't have anything older than Office 2007.

Use OpenOffice.org

Maybe that is what is currently on their computers and
people think they must use the exact format for their version.
I know a few people who, when they got some new computers
in their business that has Office 2007, they said every computer
now needs to use the new formats. This INSTEAD of deciding
to use the .doc format that their business used for years.

There has been some articles that MS is now creating a new format
to replace their current new format of .docx and such. IF MS is
looking to drop this new set of formats, then why should the business
and government community convert all of their older documents
to the new formats. By the time it is done, they will have to start
a new conversion to Office 2008 or 2009 formats???
