Hi KR
Believe me, if the boost is working correctly you'll
know all about it at around 6K rpm. Assuming you can
hear the boost servo cycle when you switch on I would
check that you have the correct slack adjustment in
the boost cable, it might have stretched or slipped.
With vboost working correctly it should feel like you
are riding two different bikes depending on how hard
you ride your bike. At small throttle openings the
bike should accelerate smoothly upto the red line. At
WOT there should be a marked increase in acceleration
at around the 6K rpm mark. Not as violent as
triggereing a NOS set up but still very noticable.
Give it a try in second or third gear but make sure
you have plenty of road in front of you.
Regards
Steve

My new '00 VMAX is two weeks under my ownership and I
just picked it up
=
from the dealer's post break-in service (~600 miles).
I just love the
=
machine so far ( I see looks of envy and drooling from
those around
me), =
but as I informed the service guy, although the
accelleration is great,
=
6000, 6500, 7000, 7500 rpms go by without fanfare.
The accelleration =
simply remains smooth and constant. The service guys
at the Yamaha =
dealer said they made "an adjustment" and that V-boost
should now =
function, but my ride home still revealed no
noticeable change as I =
cross 6K. So, you venerable veterans of the VMAX, am
I expecting =
something that is not really there or do I need to
have a few words the
=
service dude?
