I beg to differ. On the issue of the velocity stacks, you can change the hp
torge curve by changing the lenght of the stack. My bike makes 131.8 and 86
lb/ft of torque with the 4" stacks. With the 2" it makes 129.8 and 88.7
lb/ft of torque. Some bike do loose a little in the mid range but mine did
not. I has no dip at all. You now have clean cool air running that is not
muddied up by a tank cover running through a match ported, polished
manifold. I sent my dyno run to Terry Hayden a couple days ago so you should
all be able to see it soon. You are also going from a 35mm carb to a 39mm.
There is no vboost at all on the VGAS system either and it does include the
filtering bonnets that go over the stacks.
I had the luxury if you call it that of trying to beat out Stan P. numbers.
Stan(as far as I know) has the highest HP stock VMAX retaining the air box
around. With a stage 1 setup and a Hindle pipe his bike makes almost 127 hp.
It has unbelievable mid range too. Even with VGAS on my bike, Stans bike
makes 2-4 more hp than mine up to about 5500 rpm and then mine pulls away by
about 6 hp till redline. Stan's bike is unbelievable strong very much the
exception not the rule. Although it was never dynoed stock I feel fairly
sure that it would have made 118-120 before any mods.
I had the same hesitation on VGAS when I first read about it. Now I have it
and I am a believer.
