Told you I'd be back,
Just picked up my CBR 900 RR this evening from the dealer after one month riding my
Max all over the country (Spain) during my holidays. I did more than 2000 miles with
the Max and taking the CBR was like leaving a heavy snake and taking a sharp "Blade"
to ride.
I have felt very clear contradictive feelings while riding the Honda specially
comparing it with the month I've been riding the cumbersome Max.
For a start, the MAX beats any feeling you might get riding the CBR for it's raw and
decisive way of taking off while opening the throttle in any gear (bellow 120 MPH).
It is very very frustrating after a Max ride, to take the CBR and find that it has no
guts under 7K, you must use the gears to keep the bike happy, so I just wonder what
the smaller brother (CBR 600) does to keep up with anyone else.......
But getting to the point mentioned in this mail, I would and will do anything to
improve the braking on my Max, for today I have really become aware of what difference
there is between both bikes when it comes down to braking. In the CBR you just need
one finger to lift the rear tyre, but on the Max even taking a handful the bike just
continues going forward ( without managing to even lock the front wheel) and that is
where I get the "shi**s". Most of the times I withhold my self while accelerating, to
make sure I make it in one piece the other end.
I know that weight wise there is no comparison, but still I would like to feel my
front brake lock and then decide what to do next.
So please throw all your suggestions about new front brakes for I am decided to change
them keeping my standard forks (already with racetech springs and emulators ) My bike
is a new 2000 carbon look Max, just to clear out the earlier max with smaller dia.
discs.
