My friend John who worked at the plant there in 1965 says it's abandoned. It
was a boat company for a while. He lived in the neighborhood and gave me
other great details of 1965 and Airstream...he'll be at the Delta with me.

Guess if my '73 is not old enough to hang out or associate with the Vinta=

Reminds me of a time back when the drinking age was raised from 18 to 19.

Maybe even more.

Well, the '73 ambassador club is not to pleased with that idea...
that would make us not vintage, just old? :/

My service manual just says length, not name, but it looks like there is
a circuit breaker 25 Amp, right under the front window, probably behind
the couch. That may be for more than just the jack. the jack itself, if
it is original, deosn't show any fuse or breaker, although there might
be an overload button on the motor.
You might also look at the breakaway switch, if it is original, the jack
is wired through it.

The wheel wells on my tradewind were becoming un calked where they joined the
floor to stop any leak, both present and future I ran a 4in fiberglass tape
around the joint which formed a barrier to the water pinitrating the joint.
Bare in mind DO NOT use one of the kits that are avalable at your local Wal
Mart. the resin is pollyester and probably watered down at the very best
pollyester has a very poor holding ability. Epoxy is the only way to go eaven
then it is not always a cureall.

I am looking for the cover for a Bowen water heater for a 1962 Bambi. Ours
blew off as we were driving. We've been told we could have a replacement
made, but we'd rather have an original if we could find it. Any help would
be appreciated!

Hi Tom and Marlo,
One summer week when the weather forecast was warm and dry , I removed all
the wood panels (everything I could unfasten), sanded them down several
times, wiped the dust off, painted them with clear polyurethane paint, let
them dry for a few days while I cleaned (white glove) the entire interior of
our '67 22' Safari.
Then, I did the same with all the wood framing and other wooded pieces I
couldn't unfasten. The next week, I put everything back together. There's
nothing new in this procedure, but everything looks great, even almost new.
The biggest problem occurred afterwards. Refinishing wood panels led to new
drapes, new carpet, new set of dishes, new silverware, new pots and new
pans. We now have 30# aluminum bottles, a second battery, solar panels,
safety shut off valve on water inlet, convenient on/off switch for
converter, fluorescent lights, new shock absorbers, new tires, new door
handle and keys, installed dead bolt, reinforced structural stringers under
the second battery, added a catalytic heater with separate on/off valve,
repainted the blue exterior trim, recaulked all the exterior seams, cleaned
and waxed all the aluminum (many times), used dielectric grease on all
outside markers, replaced the fresh water tank and the Shurflo pump.
The list goes on. It hasn't ended and probably won't in the near future.

You can refinish the veneer cabinet and closet doors but you have to be
fairly careful as the veneer is thin. I used a random orbital finish sander
with 220 grit and it worked perfect. After the sanding the old lacquer off,
one coat of natural stain and a couple coats of polyurethane and voila!
Just like new.
