Ahm, I disagree on the above .. but I think it's a user-choice.  Most
of my software is installed from repositories but I don't absolutely
constrain myself to repositories.  The fact is that they can be out of
date and if there's a bug with the repository version which is
impeding progress, that's that ... off to either compile and install
or go elsewhere.

I never install VBox from the repository.  When Frank makes the
announcement, I download the .rpm and the Extension Pack.  That's my
MO.  It's not right or better, it just works for me.

Perhaps you can start helping your repository maintainer and package
the Extension Pack.  I don't mean that facetiously.  Open Source only
works if people volunteer.
