We were told by Infection Control to go ahead and place a Biopatch
at the time of insertion despite the costs. The benefits were worth it. We are
still doing 24 dressing changes for now. Even if the site is bleeding the
Biopatch will still be effective per manufacturer recs.

We are placing 2x2 after
insertion then changing the drsg c in 48 hrs, then we place a biopatch...then
weekly and prn after that. If there's a problem c bleeding then we and the pt
care nurses do somewhat of a pressure drsg outside of the sterile
drsg.

Was wondering if everyone is still doing 24 hour drsg. changes if you place
a biopatch immediately after placement of PICC/ML. Of course if there is
no bleeding.
Are you placing pressure drsg on outside of sterile drsg? 2x2's and
coban?
Thanks!
