Also i'm in agreement that it sets up a very bad sports ethic that basically states"do whatever you have to do to get a fish". I'm at present trying to teach my three nephews the fine ethical practice of Catch & Release; I'd have a much harder time of it, if they had been introduced to snagging.... Besides with the current dire straits that the various Pacific Salmon species are in along the Pacific Coast...snagging is an ancient, outdated & dangerous practice that should be done away with. I'd suggest to anyone who is interested in the plight of the various Pacific Salmon to read Jim Lichatowich's "SALMON WITHOUT RIVERS" from Island Press...it will be a much needed rude awakening to just how screwed up we Humans can make things for the other species of this planet....and also how we can begin to correct our big mistakes.
