First welcome to the vfb. For now just play by the rules and enjoy your new found sport. Yes flyrods can be expensive, but my first cost me $9.00, the reel 6 or 7, the line 10. So you see it need not be to costly. Now I build my own rods they cost a bit more, but it's what I like. As you progress in the sport you may find the thrill of catching  a fish on a fly you tie yourself, on your own home rolled rod, plus the pure pleasure of casting a flyrod, are just the ticket. I am new to the sport of trout fishing and would like to know what you favorite setup is.        Mine is an ultra-light spin rod, spooled with 6# mono, a #10 gold salmon hook baited with one of four things: salmon eggs, marshmallows, corn, or 1/2 night crawler.
