I just tied a Rolled Muddler for a book photo
Thanks to all for the tips. My first try post-tips tie resulted in a vast improvement for the tinsel step.

I do have a very specific question about tying a Rolled Muddler that I hope Paul or someone on VFB familiar with the fly can answer.

In the photo I saw at: <http://www.guidebc.com/flypatterns/rolledmuddler_cutthroat.asp> and actual samples I saw (on the water) briefly, the deerhair head part of the fly looked like it was tied and clipped almost in a rounded 'muffin' or crown shape sitting on top of the shank instead of the bullethead style you see on other muddler patterns.

Is my perception correct, or is the correct style a bullethead?

Finally, points of curiosity, why the name 'rolled' muddler? And any fishing tips on this pattern? (A friend was fishing this pattern with good success on stillwater).

Thanks,
