Simple to keep from spinning. Assuminging you're right handed: Just hold
the hair tightly on the top of the hook with the left hand. Take a couple
of strong* wraps to hold it to the hook and to flair it. While still
holding it in your left hand, take several more tight wraps to lock it in.

*When you spin hair, you take a couple of semi-loose wraps to "grab" the
hair, let go with your left hand and start "cranking down" with the thread,
causing it to spin. By taking your tight wraps initially, it not only
flairs the hair, but it locks it to the top of the hook. The secret isn't
a secret - just don't let go of the hair till it's locked in.
