Del,

IMHO I think an 8wt is to heavy for your average trout steam/river. I think thats a
tough trio to put into 1 rod. If you would be fishing stripper from shore you may be
able to get away with a 6wt for all three. That was my first rod I used it for Trout
and Bass, I still use it for Bass and for Carp, and those Carp can really fight, it
should stand up well to some strippers as well.

IMHO

I was just wondering, would a 8wt be to much for trout, bass, and striper? If so, what would be good for a combo rod for them? Will be using mainly streamers and surface poppers.
Also, I was talking with a guest last night at the hotel. He said that as a boy in Montana, he used to "clean up" wit a floating GRHE. He stated that his Dad tied all of their flies, and that the floater was the most effective one they had. I asked him to describe it and he said it was exactly like an ordinary GRHE, but that it floated just below the film. Has any one heard of such a fly or how it could be done?
                                                Thank You,
