I have to weigh in on this one, unfortunately I can not compare, I have only 8 Wt rods. Amanda has a 5 wt that I got for her. I would like to try a 3 to 6 weight and am trying to put one together now out of parts pieces that hopefully will be in that range. Since all I have used is 8 weight I wonder how my casting will be affected ? Maybe time will tell. Jimi
An 8 wt will work great for big strippers. A little on the "telephone pole" side for regular size bass and trout. I use a 2-4 wt for trout, a 6 wt for bass & strippers. Course I've never caught a landlocked stripper larger than 9 pounds either.
