     CHRIS,
So True, So True!!!! I didn't bother trying to educate Randy about
the art of the Bow & Arrow Cast, that can wait. I had him go for the
roll cast, Short "punch" casts or Dapping the water.
I have fished the Santa Ana River afew times, certianly is a
littler Brushy river... some lovely Browns in that local water.
As to patterns, Randy used the every effective Yellow Humpy. I
fished Trudes, Wulffs, Elk Hair Caddis patterns....but also used the
never fail me GREY UGLY & a Recent favorite the GREEN DOUBLE WING.
mostly we fished #16s & #18s... no need to go smaller or larger...
Randy also learned that you Will lose flies at a higher rate on the
Samll Brushy Streams then most other places... "Wanna Play, Gotta
Pay" I always say....
I'll have to meet up with you & fish the Santa Ana River some
spring time...

   DEAN...
