Never heard of a Tangier lake around that area....there are the 5 Rocky Basin Lakes, to the southwest a distance is Johnson Lake and to the west, over the ridge, on the Boreal Plateau is Funston Lake....
Bastard that Spinning Fisherman was...eating a 17 inch Golden!!!!!!! how would he like it if I ate his Dog!!!!! I do not harm, let alone Kill & eat Golden Trout.... it would be like a Catholic spitting in the Pope's face.... Sacrilege!!!!!!
I was sorta Hoping the Rocky Basin lakes had rebounded from the Winter Kill in the Mid '90s.... those lakes Used to produce Big Goldens, I have caught them there up to 19 inches. My friend, Ron, & myself watched the dying of a Big Golden there, probally 7 pounds... It was swimming in circles, rolling belly up..attempting to swim down into the depths of the lake... all the while it was drifting towards a point of land... We were watching it get closer to the point, figuring we'd get a good close look at the Leviathan. Unfortunately, it managed to swim off & out into the lake some and was not going to make a landing at the point.... it drifted out into the main body of the lake... Sad to watch a giant like that dying...but nice to know that the Lakes could amply feed such a big Golden....or at least, nowadays Used to produce such big goldens......

These guys were coming from Rocky Basin Lakes but they said it was still barren

The 17" was supposedly caught in another lake named, Tangier. Never heard of it! I suspect that it was probably one of the Rocky Basin Lakes but are keeping it secret. The flyfisherman was a little sheepish about the whole affair particularly when his buddy, a spinner guy, bragged about how good the 17" Golden was for dinner.
