One other point to consider between single foot and double foot guides is
how much you stiffen (and hence - affect the action) of the blank. Single
foot guide wraps tend to cover less of the blank than double foot. Wrapping
with thread and gluing stiffens the blank more at that location so wrapping
a greater amount of the blank with double foot guides will have more of an
affect than single foot. How much is determined by the action of the blank,
how far past the ends of the guide feet you wrap and how thick the thread
and finish is. If you double wrap your guides (as on some saltwater ones)
you obviously stiffen the blank even more.
Just my two cents.

Subject: Re: [VFB] Rod Building Question

List,
thanks a lot to all who answered. DEAN added an interesting point to it
in the chat-room (Yes, we had a very nice session yesterday: Byard,
Dean, DonO and Buggs <G> dropped by and said hello. Don, your Billfish
is amaizing. I have it now as background on my PC).
Oh yes, DEAN added a point to the rod-guide topic. On heavier rods the
weight advantage on the single-food rings is not so big as on the
lighter ones.
Food for thoughts
Rene
