Make a list of the top 10 or 20 flies you fish with success. Look up the patterns (Virtualflybox.com or search with Google.com) and start with those feathers in the 100 packs or � capes. Whiting feathers are very good quality. The co-op swap is a good way to get more Whiting feathers than a 100 pack at a better price. Start with a grizzly hackle because a lot of patterns use it. If you start with too cheap of a feather, you may have problems with the stems breaking making the tying frustrating.
